Description

The drug is a drug for the treatment of non-insulin dependent diabetes in adults (type 2 diabetes mellitus).
It applies to
Reducing excessively high blood sugar levels in adult patients with diabetes mellitus (type 2 diabetes) with consistent adherence to the recommended diabetic diet, weight loss when overweight, and physical activity alone have not resulted in adequate blood sugar control.
Glibenclamide can be used alone (monotherapy) or in combination with metformin.
contraindication
The drug should not be taken
if you are allergic to glibenclamide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
if you are hypersensitive to other sulfonylurea derivatives, sulfonamides, sulfonamide diuretics and probenecid, as cross-reactions are possible
in the following cases of diabetes when insulin is required:
Insulin-dependent diabetes (type 1 diabetes mellitus), metabolic disorders in diabetes such as B. Hyperacidity of the blood (diabetic ketoacidosis), preliminary stages of coma and coma, and removal of the pancreas
if the effectiveness of the treatment of non-insulin dependent diabetes (type 2 diabetes) is no longer indicated
with severe liver dysfunction
with severe renal impairment
Dosage of Glibenclamide AbZ 3.5mg Tablets
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Recommended dose
Dosage, even when switching from another blood sugar-lowering medication, will be determined by your doctor, taking into account your diabetes-friendly diet and blood and urine sugar control.
Film-coated tablets containing 1.75 mg of the active ingredient glibenclamide are also available for individual adjustment of the required maintenance dose.
initial setup
Treatment should be started gradually with the lowest possible dose: 1/2 (up to 1) tablet of glibenclamide (equivalent to 1.75-3.5 mg of glibenclamide) per day. If this does not bring down your blood sugar sufficiently, your doctor will gradually increase the dose – at intervals of a few days to about a week – up to the required daily dose of up to a maximum of 3 glibenclamide tablets (equivalent to 10.5 mg glibenclamide) per day.
Switching from other medicines to lower blood sugar
If you are switching to glibenclamide from another oral diabetes drug, dosage should start with 1/2 (to 1) glibenclamide tablet (equivalent to 1.75–3.5 mg glibenclamide) per day.
dose adjustment
If you are elderly, frail or debilitated, or if you have impaired kidney or liver function or are prone to hypoglycemia for other reasons, you should take a lower dose at the beginning and during treatment to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. Your dose may also need to be adjusted if your weight or lifestyle changes.
Combination with other drugs to lower blood sugar
Under certain circumstances, additional administration of glitazones (rosiglitazone, pioglitazone) may be indicated.
Glibenclamide can also be combined with other non-insulin releasing drugs used to treat diabetes (guar gum or acarbose).
If insulin production is reduced (the onset of secondary insufficiency), combination treatment with insulin can be tried. However, if insulin secretion in the body stops completely, treatment with insulin alone (insulin monotherapy) is indicated.
duration of use
Your doctor will decide how long you should use it.
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.
If you take more than you should
Acute, significant overdose, as well as multiple excessive doses over a long period of time, can lead to severe, persistent and possibly life-threatening hypoglycemia. Signs of hypoglycemia are described in the side effects category.
You can treat mild hypoglycemia yourself by eating sugar, high-sugar foods, or sugary drinks. This is why you should always carry 20 grams of glucose with you. If you are unable to resolve low blood sugar immediately on your own, call your doctor/ER immediately.
If you forget to take a dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you stop taking it
You should not stop treatment on your own initiative, change the dose or diet suitable for diabetes. If a change is needed, be sure to talk to your doctor first.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
