indication

The medicine belongs to a group of medicines called serotonin (5-HT3) antagonists. These can block the effects of a chemical called serotonin, which can cause nausea, vomiting and vomiting.

To protect you from nausea, retching and vomiting during and after cancer treatment with cytostatic drugs (chemotherapy) or radiation treatment:
Adult
On the day of chemotherapy or radiation:
The usual dose is 8 mg ondansetron (two 4 mg orodispersible tablets) taken one to two hours before treatment and a further 8 mg ondansetron (two 4 mg orodispersible tablets) taken twelve hours later.
On the following days you will be given ondansetron in the form of film-coated tablets, orodispersible tablets or as a solution:
The usual dose is 8 mg ondansetron (two 4 mg orodispersible tablets) twice a day 12 hours apart for up to 5 days.
Children from 6 months and teenagers
On the day of chemotherapy:
For children and adolescents, preparations for correct intravenous dosing are available as a slow injection into a vein over at least 30 seconds before treatment.
Ondansetron is given as film-coated tablets, orodispersible tablets or as a solution on the following days:
Your doctor will tell you the exact dose for your child, depending on the child’s height (body surface area) or weight. The maximum dose is up to two 4 mg orodispersible tablets (8 mg) twice a day 12 hours apart for up to 5 days.
There are no data from controlled clinical trials of ondansetron in children for the treatment of nausea, vomiting and vomiting induced by radiotherapy.

Das Arzneimittel gehцrt zu einer Gruppe von Arzneimitteln, die als Serotonin (5-HT3)-Antagonisten bezeichnet werden. Diese kцnnen die Wirkung einer als Serotonin bezeichneten chemischen Substanz blockieren, welche Ьbelkeit, Brechreiz und Erbrechen verursachen kann.
Das Arzneimittel wird angewendet
zur Behandlung von Ьbelkeit, Brechreiz und Erbrechen, die durch Zytostatika (in der Krebsbehandlung eingesetzte Arzneimittel) und Strahlentherapie hervorgerufen werden.

Kontraindikation

Das Prдparat darf nicht eingenommen werden,
wenn Sie Apomorphin (ein Arzneimittel zur Behandlung der Parkinsonkrankheit) einnehmen.
wenn Sie allergisch gegen Ondansetron oder einen der sonstigen Bestandteile dieses Arzneimittels sind.
von Kindern mit einer Kцrperoberflдche von weniger als 0,6 m2 bzw. mit einem Kцrpergewicht bis zu 10 kg. Zur korrekten oralen Dosierung dieser Patientengruppe steht eine Ondansetron-Lцsung zur Verfьgung.

Erwachsene
Am Tag der Chemotherapie oder Bestrahlung:
Die ьbliche Dosis betrдgt 8 mg Ondansetron (zwei 4 mg Schmelztabletten), ein bis zwei Stunden vor der Behandlung eingenommen, und weitere 8 mg Ondansetron (zwei 4 mg Schmelztabletten) zwцlf Stunden spдter.
An den nachfolgenden Tagen werden Sie Ondansetron in Form von Filmtabletten, Schmelztabletten oder als Lцsung erhalten:
Die ьbliche Dosis betrдgt 8 mg Ondansetron (zwei 4 mg Schmelztabletten) zweimal am Tag im Abstand von 12 Stunden ьber bis zu 5 Tage.
Kinder ab 6 Monate und Jugendliche
Am Tag der Chemotherapie:
Fьr Kinder und Jugendliche stehen Prдparate fьr eine korrekte intravenцse Dosierung als langsame Injektion in die Vene ьber mindestens 30 Sekunden vor der Behandlung zur Verfьgung.
An den nachfolgenden Tagen wird Ondansetron als Filmtabletten, Schmelztabletten oder als Lцsung gegeben:
Ihr Arzt wird Ihnen die genaue Dosis fьr Ihr Kind nennen, abhдngig von der GrцЯe (Kцrperoberflдche) oder dem Gewicht des Kindes. Die maximale Dosis betrдgt bis zu zwei 4 mg Schmelztabletten (8 mg) zweimal am Tag im Abstand von 12 Stunden ьber bis zu 5 Tage.
Zur Behandlung von Ьbelkeit, Brechreiz und Erbrechen, die durch eine Strahlentherapie hervorgerufen wurden, sind keine Daten aus kontrollierten klinischen Studien zur Anwendung von Ondansetron bei Kindern vorhanden.
