The medicine belongs to the group of antiviral medicines. It works by inhibiting the growth of viruses such as herpes simplex virus (HSV), varicella zoster virus (VZV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV).

contraindication
The drug must not be taken
if you are allergic to valaciclovir or aciclovir or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage of Valtrex

The usual dose is 1000 mg (two 500 mg tablets) three times a day.
Take the supplement for 7 days.

The second dose should be taken 12 hours (but not earlier than 6 hours) after the first dose.
Take the supplement for one day only (two doses).
Treatment of HSV skin infections and genital herpes
The usual dose is 500 mg (one 500 mg tablet) twice a day.
For the first infection, take the preparation for 5 days or up to 10 days if your doctor tells you to. For recurring infections, the duration of treatment is usually 3 to 5 days.
Preventing HSV infection from coming back if you have had HSV infection before
The usual dose is one 500 mg tablet once a day.
Keep taking the drug until your doctor tells you to stop.
Prevention of infection with CMV (cytomegalovirus)
The usual dose is 2000 mg (four 500 mg tablets) four times a day.
Take the doses about 6 hours apart.
You will usually start taking it as soon as possible after your operation.
After your surgery, you will take the drug for about 90 days, until your doctor tells you to stop.

Kontraindikation

Die zweite Dosis sollte 12 Stunden (aber nicht frьher als 6 Stunden) nach der ersten Dosis eingenommen werden.
Nehmen Sie das Prдparat nur einen Tag lang ein (zwei Dosen).
Behandlung von HSV-Infektionen der Haut und Genitalherpes
Die ьbliche Dosis betrдgt 500 mg (eine 500 mg-Tablette) 2-mal tдglich.
Bei der ersten Infektion nehmen Sie das Prдparat 5 Tage lang ein oder, falls Ihr Arzt es Ihnen so verordnet, bis zu 10 Tage lang. Bei wieder auftretenden Infektionen betrдgt die Dauer der Behandlung normalerweise 3 bis 5 Tage.
Vermeidung des Wiederauftretens von HSV-Infektionen, wenn Sie schon einmal eine HSV-Infektion hatten
Die ьbliche Dosis ist eine 500 mg-Tablette 1-mal tдglich.
Nehmen Sie das Prдparat so lange ein, bis Ihnen Ihr Arzt sagt, dass Sie die Einnahme beenden sollen.
Vorbeugung einer Infektion mit CMV (Zytomegalie-Virus)

Ьblicherweise werden Sie so bald wie mцglich nach Ihrer Operation mit der Einnahme beginnen.
